My impression... Godfather
Review on The Movie "The Godfather": My Impression
The justice
of the man who only asks a favor for a favor, a favor you will not be able to refuse. The man with his silent pose radiates such power of immeasurable forbearance and a genius, a
self-made man, Vito Corleone a.k.a. The Godfather from whom I was and am deeply impressed. He is the man of reason who wields the power to make
you or unmake you with just a whisper from the dark world that touches every aspect of the American
Life, be it within the precept of New York or beyond. It, the novel/film presents poignant and vivid strictures of the legal system, the social system, and human frailties which in
other words gives way to justice in the world only for those with means and
muscle. Though in the fiction, Godfather with his world, with his diversified interests are not purely following the human welfare, though it in some sense presents a solution with dark and brutal machinations to right the wrong by a man to another in such a world where the values of the man himself are sadly often measured by materialistic accumulation and the ability to accumulate so.
More
precisely, the terms respect, family, power, and various others that relate and give meaning to that human nature where every man is destined for a fate like that of the inevitable hammer on an anvil. Likewise, the free man and the true man
is the man who respects and in turn is respected by not only his family or a small circle of the friends and relatives he has but by the man who is
acknowledged by the Don/godfather himself, without being afraid to lose the authority and responsibility while partaking in the infinite opportunities offered by the American Dream that never seems to be
extinguished even after all these years of skirmishes of ideologies, resources, and whatnot. The Italian values as asserted by the Novel or film define a community or a city itself that is moved by the single will of a man who is a figure of benevolence, and more importantly a man of reason. Warmhearted, soft-spoken he exemplifies the
leadership qualities one should have in any field imagined; be it business or politics.
He proves that an argument can be won without loud voices, violence is the only
last resort if win-win reason cannot be applicable i.e. convincing people with a barrel of the
gun, a briefcase can earn more than a thousand guns, and so on. This extra-ordinary character from his humble beginning of immigrant exiled from his beloved
motherland to the restless struggles for bread and livelihood in chaotic America and at the end the top of the criminal world as the man
who could pull strings from behind the shadow truly reflects the human
ingenuity, character, and all that which a man should have as a man in the
coming of the new age where corruption power and human greed has undermined the
human values as individual, family, and community that should have been
treasured. Despite the woes of a man who lost his son, his shambled empire he
so painstakingly builds from the ground, Godfather
as his name proclaims lived up to that name till the end concerning the
human life he values so and his people who respect him with worship. For them and for himself, he let
goes off the one vice human is fallible to, the blood-chilling hot rage of vengeance.
It also may be that he is too old to take in any more tragedies, or the painful experiences of
losing a loved one, the thing is despite that he still wanted peace for not
only himself and the other 5 mafioso families but as the whole of the land where he had
made his name, the name to be respected and feared by those who heard and
understood what it entails.
